Kellett School is seeking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated PE and Games teacher, committed to fostering a love for physical activity in young learners. BACKGROUND
Kellett School continues to have ambitious plans to establish itself as the leading provider of sports programmes and performance levels in Hong Kong. We have 12 full-time specialists within our current team. This comprises of 5 Heads of Sport and a performance lead across our major sports, alongside six support coaches who assist in both the Prep and Senior Games programmes. At Kellett, we have dedicated Prep teams at our PFL and KLB Campuses.
Our Prep School fosters the development of skills by creating consistently positive learning environments.
We hold several sporting titles across various age groups in the ISSFHK and HKSSF competitions. We participate in the top performance level group at the FOBISIA games for U11 and U13. Additionally, we organise sports tours to locations such as Japan, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai for U15 and U20 teams.

The successful candidate will contribute to the future development and continuous improvement of Sport and Physical Education at Kellett.

Main Responsibilities
- Organise, lead and maintain the highest standards of achievement in sports coaching and teaching in our outstanding through-school Games programme.
- Promote a genuine passion for Physical Education, Games, and physical well-being.
- Drive forward a House Sport system that makes intra-school competition exciting and enjoyable.
- Organise and deliver a high-quality, varied co-curricular activity programme.
- Exhibit excellent organisational skills, flexibility, and adaptability, leading others with passion and commitment.
Key Tasks and Duties
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons from Reception to KS2.
- Develop and implement policies and schemes of work for Physical Education and Games.
- Create further opportunities for friendly fixtures.
- Monitor standards of attainment and achievement for Physical Education and Sport, ensuring clear development pathways to senior school sport.
- Collaborate closely with the Prep PE and Sport lead at Kowloon Bay Campus.
- Provide high-quality opportunities for all pupils through Inter-House sport.
- Support colleagues in effective sports coaching schemes of work regarding resources, staff professional development and setting realistic but challenging targets.
- Analyse current practices, including those in the UK and other international schools, to inform policies, practices, and teaching methods.
- Gather and collate assessments of progress in Physical Education and Games, ensuring updates are provided termly.
- Lead staff meetings and training sessions to disseminate important information and key sports notices.
- Attend INSET events and parent-teacher consultations.
Teaching and Learning
- Ensure continuity and progression in lessons for all pupils and abilities.
- Demonstrate a clear teaching philosophy and pedagogy for Games and Physical Education from Reception, KS1 and KS2 and potentially KS3.
- Ensure teachers and specialists are supported and clear about teaching and coaching objectives in Games lessons, communicating key coaching principles to pupils.
- Extend learning opportunities by promoting the use of digital technology and information and communication technology.
- Establish clear practices for peer assessments, recording, and reporting on pupil achievement in line with school policy.
- Evaluate the teaching of Physical Education and Games using various methods, identifying best practices and areas for improvement.
- Share good practices with Prep teaching staff and Senior School specialists.
Leading and Working with Staff
- Lead by example and support the professional development of staff.
- Ensure that new staff members receive appropriate support within the department.
- Work cooperatively with the Learning Support Department to provide advice and subject-specific support tailored to pupils’ needs.
- Keep the Director of Sport and Prep School SLT informed about subject policies, risk assessments, priorities and the ongoing professional development needs of staff in relation to Physical Education and Games.
- Teach modern trends and demonstrate good practices in Physical Education and Games lessons where appropriate.
