About The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed History (and Politics dependant on the candidate) Teacher to join our outstanding British International School in Hong Kong.

Applications are invited from colleagues with a minimum of two years full time teaching experience in high achieving schools who can demonstrate a proven record of outstanding teaching and learning and secure understanding of the National Curriculum, GCSE/IGCSE and A levels.

History and Politics has seen great success in recent years, it is one of the most popular option subjects at GCSE with four classes, and there are currently two classes at A Level for History and a further two for Politics. There is a history of excellent examination results, and a number of students go on to study History, Politics or related subjects at university including a number of successful Cambridge Law applicants.

Reporting to the Head of History, you will be joining a department of six. We are a friendly and collaborative department who are committed to enriching our students' understanding of the past, how it has been constructed, and how it has shaped the world we live in today.

The successful candidate will be able to develop further the use of teaching strategies which encourage a deep and scholarly engagement with the subject whilst focusing on excellent levels of achievement in all sections of the school.

They will be an inspirational teacher and will demonstrate high levels of commitment to the development of History and Politics at Kellett School, including engaging with the whole school priority for excellence in teaching and learning. The ability to teach Politics is desirable but not essential.

Students study Cambridge IGCSE and AQA at A Level combining ‘1K Making of a Superpower 1865-1875’ and ‘2S Making of Modern Britain 1951-2007’. The NEA is focused on the fascinating changes in Japan from 1805-1910.

The examination board for A Level Politics is Pearson Edexcel. At KS3, students learn about a range of topics that reflect the diversity of the student body and the school’s international context. All lessons are underpinned by strong disciplinary thinking, and we seek to go beyond the syllabus of external examinations to stretch and enthuse.

Applications Close: 26th June 2026 (11:59 PM Hong Kong Time)
