About The Role

Commencing August 2026
 
We are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic and committed KS1/KS2 Class Teacher to join our outstanding British International School in Hong Kong.
 
Applications are invited from colleagues with a minimum of two years full time teaching experience in high achieving schools who can demonstrate a proven record of outstanding teaching and learning and secure understanding of the National Curriculum.  
 
The Class Teacher (KS1/KS2) will support the Kellett Learner Profile and there will be an emphasis on developing independence, responsibility, creativity, and confidence.
 
The Class Teacher will work with the KS1/KS2 team to create a provision that supports children's development as active, engaged learners in an inspiring, creative and language rich environment. Though exceptional leadership, guidance and support, children will feel happy and secure and make strong progress in all areas of the curriculum. The Class Teacher will work to ensure excellent learning outcomes for all students, while also demonstrating excellence as a class teacher.
 
 
General Responsibilities
 
General duties
  • Develop own professional knowledge and skills through courses and reading, aligning with school's ethos and current strategic needs
  • Attend meetings according to school policy
  • Where required, prepare and deliver reports to relevant groups (governors, parents, etc)
  • Manage and monitor budgets within your area
 
Strategic Development
  • Set high expectations for all students and inspire and motivate students to reach and maintain high standards
  • Setting standards through personal classroom practice, demonstrating different strategies to deliver improved student performance in the key stage learning
  • Working in partnership with parents and the community, keeping them informed and involved in students' learning
 
Teaching and Learning
  • To deliver at least very good teaching and learning experiences to the students within the phase
  • Work with colleagues to review areas of the curriculum and make sure there is continuity and progress

About You

Applicants are expected to be working currently in a high attaining school and have experience of teaching KS1/KS2.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
  • Qualified teacher status
  • Evidence of professional development relevant to this role.
  • Experience of outstanding teaching in KS1 and/or KS2
  • Excellent working knowledge of both the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 to ensure all students reach their potential and all staff are well supported.
  • An understanding of the importance of continuing and enhancing the strong links already in place with Preparatory/Senior colleagues to ensure a seamless curriculum and transition from Preparatory to Senior.
Recent UK experience and knowledge of UK independent sector schools is desirable but not essential.  Applicants will have strong IT skills and a proven ability to use technology to support learning.
