About The Role

Applications are invited from well qualified and highly motivated colleagues with experience in high achieving schools who can demonstrate a proven record of outstanding teaching and learning as a Teaching Assistant - Additional Support (PFL), to assist the Additional Support Coordinator in delivering effective education to students requiring Additional Support through targeted interventions. 

Main Responsibilities

Teaching and learning

  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the School Leadership Team, Additional Support Coordinator and class teachers
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students and help monitor their progress
  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary
  • Assist the Additional Support Coordinator with maintaining student records using digital platforms
  • Lead and facilitate small groups
  • To prepare learning resources

Administrative duties

  • Help maintain student records, e.g. plans, provision documents, statements and tracking sheets
  • Support the Additional Support Coordinator in other administrative tasks as required, e.g. taking minutes during parent meetings
  • Undertake other duties from time to time as the School Leadership Team requires

Standards and quality assurance

  • Support the aim of the school; A love of learning and confidence for life
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
  • Attend team and staff meetings
  • Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the School Leadership Team
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
  • Keep up to date and comply with all school policies

Other Duties

  • To assist with the supervision of pupils on their arrival/departure and during school times as requested.
  • To accompany children off the school premises as directed, but usually in the presence of a teacher. With prior arrangement, to assist with residential visits.
  • To assist in the maintenance of resources and equipment.
  • To use Kellett School resources judiciously.
