About The Role

Responsible to : Head of School
Function :   To support teachers in the provision of a positive learning environment in the school

On a day-to-day basis Language Assistants are required to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of a Language Assistant’s professional duties as set out in this job description, and as outlined in the applicable Kellett School Association Ltd. Terms and Conditions of Employment.

Language Assistants are required to set a good example to the students through their presentation, personal and professional conduct.

 

Key Tasks and Duties

  • To work under the direction of language teachers, or other senior members of staff, with individual students and groups of students.
  • To maintain a positive relationship with students, parents and colleagues.
  • To ensure the good behaviour of the students in your care, develop positive attitudes; encourage self-discipline and foster self-esteem.
  • To supervise students during the lunch time period and breaks.
  • To assist with the supervision of students on their arrival/departure and during school times as requested.
  • To promote a positive image of Kellett School in the immediate and wider community.
  • To maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to students, staff, school management and parents.
  • To record observations of students behaviour and progress as directed by the language teacher.
  • To comply with health and safety arrangements and draw to the attention of the Deputy Head of School any deficiencies or risks.
  • To accompany students off the school premises as directed by the language teacher, but usually in the presence of a teacher.
  • To assist in the maintenance of resources and equipment.To repair and cover books.
  • To assist in the ordering and management of resources and stock.To maintain stock records.
  • To use Kellett School resources judiciously.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be requested.

About You

Required Skills
  • Proficient in spoken Mandarin and good written Chinese
  • Good communication skills in both Mandarin and English
  • Good interpersonal skills
 
 Required Experience
  • Previous experience of working as a Mandarin Language Assistant preferred
  • Experience of working with individual students/groups of students
 

Terms and Conditions

Working times:      Term time only; Monday to Friday, 7.45am to 3.45pm
Base :               Pok Fu Lam Campus
Medical Insurance :   Provided
