About the School

The Role 

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Music Teaching Assistant to join the Prep School music team. Working with children aged 4–11, the successful candidate will support a vibrant music education programme and help students grow in confidence, musicality, creativity and enjoyment of music. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed musician who can work positively with children, contribute to lessons and rehearsals, and support students as they prepare for and take part in performances.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Support music teaching and learning for children aged 4–11.
  •  Contribute to a vibrant music education programme across the Prep School.
  •  Support choral and orchestral arrangements and help students prepare for performances.
  •  Perform confidently and support student performance in rehearsals, concerts and events.
  •  Work as a confident member of the music team.
  •  Adapt behaviour and language to meet the needs of children from age 4 to 11. 
  • Attend and support after-hours concerts or events when required, with a degree of flexibility.

About You

Person Specification

  • Musical expertise, preferably versatile in a range of instruments
  • Able to read music and support choral and orchestral arrangements
  • Play at least one instrument to a high level
  • Confident in performing and supporting student performance
  • A degree of flexibility to attend and support after-hours concerts or events
  • Confident member of the music team
  • Organised, uses initiative
  • Excellent spoken English 
  • Commitment to music education

Kellett is a through-train school from Reception to Year 13 with two preparatory campuses and one senior campus. Student roll currently is 1625; Senior 816; KLB Prep 324; PFL Prep 485.
